Google White

The Google background image in plain white is my new default setting.

Apparently there was quite the panic online last week as the world logged into their computers, booted up their web browsers and –gasp!– Google had changed its background image to a garish nature scene.

It didn’t take us very long to find the ‘Remove background image” link and change the background to this simple white option (pictured above), located very last in the Editor’s Picks.

Why stick with Google’s trademark colours when you can enjoy the classic simplicity of those rounded letters, lightly shadowed and wonderfully spartan in white?

The Friday Five: Bookshelves

My life is surrounded by books – lots and lots of books – at home, at work, in the car, in my purse. My current bookshelves are overflowing and piles of books are gathering on the floor here and there around my apartment. Oh, how I dream of shelves like these to house my growing collection of books.

The Friday Five: Garbage Bins

Although the name may vary – wastepaper basket, garbage can, trash bin – the function of this object remains the same. There are plenty of affordable (and not-so-affordable) options out there for your home office, kitchen, bathroom and craft room. Here’s a little peak into the world of garbage bins.
