Two for Tuesday: Polka Dots (again)

How many times have I featured polka dots on White Cabana? Too many times to count, I’m sure! I just love the happy pattern, and I can see many polka-dotted posts in the future. I hope you don’t mind!

Here are today’s two-of-a-kind.

The Friday Five: Hearts, Hearts, Hearts

I can’t help it. I need to showcase more hearts. I thought I had corralled enough hearts for this Valentine’s Day gift guide, but I hadn’t. I have five more heart-filled items to share with you to end this week.

Sponsor Love 2015 Edition

The year started off so incredibly well with regards to sponsorship and brand collaborations for me and my blog. I’m so grateful for all the goodness that has come my way in 2015, and I am very much looking forward to a fruitful 2016.

Over the past 12 months, I was able to connect with many well-respected brands that have impressive histories and are forward-thinking. Would you care to walk with me down sponsor memory lane? Please, let’s!

Halloween: Collection of Costumes

I’m not particularly keen on Halloween. It’s really just a bit too spooky for me, and while I do like the idea of dressing up, costume planning mildly stresses me out. (What’s the Halloween version of bah-humbug?)

That said, I do think that these costumes for children are definitely awesome.

Design: Land of Nod in the Kids’ Room

My sister recently sent over some photos of the progress she has made in her kids’ room. The Land of Nod helped us personalize this bedroom for my 3 nephews and niece who currently share it down in North Carolina.

First…a couple photos of the cuties… White-Cabana-Land of Nod-Children-2 White-Cabana-Land of Nod-Children-3Now, the room:

The youngest kiddo is in a crib, the second youngest is in a toddler bed, and the older two share a bunk bed. On the window wall, you’ll see the crib and the toddler bed. White-Cabana-Land of Nod-Children-6The Bon Voyage luggage storage cases are filled with the kids’ goodies (but I’ll admit that they rarely stay neatly piled on the chair as in the photos). My sister hung the half dot rainbow garland across this wall to add some fun colour. It also ties in very well with the two pieces of art that my sister painted. (so much colour for White Cabana!)

Each bed has a letter pillow to personalize them for the kids. In the above photos, you’ll also notice the flea market bench (the kids are also sitting on it in the photos above). We love this kid-sized bench, and the munchkins actually use it to play, read, put on socks, etc. Here I was thinking that it was going to be a just-for-show-bench! Nope – they actually use it!

My sister created (most of) the artwork in the bedroom, including the scattered colourful squares and the kids’ silhouettes. The art hung on the clipboards? Those are the kids’ masterpieces! It is their room after all!

Thanks to The Land of Nod for sponsoring this post.

The Land of Nod

I’m working with my sister on the design of her kids’ bedroom. Besides the kids’ beds (from Ikea) and the artwork (made by my sister and her kids), the room is fairly empty. We turned to the Land of Nod (a top pick for many people designing kids’ bedrooms and playrooms) to fill up the bedroom with items that are useful, colourful, and versatile. One of our top picks was this bench as we thought it would be a good place for the kids to perch and read a book, or put on socks and shoes:

In addition, we are using this rainbow dot garland to add colour to the room, these letter pillows to personalize the space, and these luggage sets to store toys. Here are some of the additional white pieces that I love for a kids’ bedroom or playroom…or an adult room!
