Two for Tuesday: Ruffles

What’s prettier or more feminine than ruffles? Okay, maybe hearts and bows, but ruffles are still at the top of the femininity list, right? They’re great for your wardrobe and your home as you can see by today’s two-for-Tuesday.

Art: A Welcoming Pineapple

As many of you know, the pineapple is a symbol of warmth and hospitality. So when my sister and I spotted Joni Tyrrell’s Pining for Pineapple in Minted’s art shop a couple of months ago, we thought it would be a perfect addition to her family’s new home.

It has finally been placed on the wall near the entrance, and it certainly offers visitors an inviting welcome.

Gorgeous, right? The sideboard will be painted eventually. We can talk about the impressive ceiling height, the archways, and the gorgeous moldings another day, I promise!

Thanks to Minted for sponsoring on this post. All opinions are my own.

Marketplace: Chapters-Indigo Spring Collection

Chapters-Indigo is one of those stores that is continually improving. Each season brings new home decor, fashion, beauty, and food and entertaining items, not to mention a variety of new and interesting books. I know I’m not alone when I say that spending an afternoon at Chapters-Indigo is really relaxing. If only I had more time, I would read every one of those best-selling books!

Anyway, I headed to Toronto’s Eaton Centre a couple of weeks ago to attend Chapters-Indigo spring kick-off. I snapped some photos of some of the things that caught my eye.

Mugs…why am I such a sucker for a good typographic mug? I’ve got most of the ones featured in these photos (I spoil myself regularly, it seems):

The fashion/style department is the largest I’ve seen it, what with the jewelry, scarves, totes, clutches, and watches. The items are super cute.

Chapters-Indigo has partnered with Etsy and has featured collections from 8 Etsy designers. Way to support artists, Indigo!

I was surprised to see the Nest thermostat in the electronics department. Then again, I shouldn’t have been that surprised considering what a hot product it is for the design conscious customer.

The selection of gourmet food and home decor items seems to be expanding. I loved the little jars of salt (reminds me of the jars I picked up in France earlier this year).

Marketplace: Bows

Bows – so girly, so feminine, so right! I love bows on my clothes. My collection of belts with bow closures has steadily grown over the years. I think they add a simple touch of femininity to my usual black-on-black outfits. While I don’t think I have even one bow in my home, I think I should look out for something that’s just right. Perhaps the gorgeous Kate Spade vase I featured below. Perhaps.

White Makes Sense

I had a great visit at HomeSense last week. If I had an unlimited budget (and a mansion) I would have gone crazy and filled up my shopping cart with loads of goodies. Instead, I picked up a few pretty gifts for friends and family.

I think this collection of serving platters, bowls and cake stands is especially beautiful.
