Hotel to Home: Round Hill Hotel, Jamaica

Did you hear the news about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle spending some time in Jamaica to celebrate a friend’s wedding? While I definitely read an article or two about the public outing and relationship status, I happily clicked onto the website of the Round Hill Hotel and Villas – the site of the wedding. There are so many beautiful spaces in this luxury hotel, but I’m zooming in on a beautiful white bathroom for today’s hotel to home post.

I never tire of a white bathroom.

Hotel to Home: Ritz Carlton, Montreal, Quebec

We are staying close to home in today’s Hotel to Home feature. We’re heading on over to the luxurious Ritz Carlton Montreal.

This white bathroom is easy to recreate in your own home. Mix white tiles with a built-in tub and a marble-topped wood vanity. Add a plush robe and towels, too, of course!

Remember when I stayed at the Ritz Carlton Sarasota? It was a great treat!

The Friday Five: Tiles Up to Here

I like fully tiled walls as much as I like Friday (and that’s a lot!)!

The Friday Five: Marble Herringbone Tiles in the Bathroom

I’ve been making progress on my foyer tiles. After quite a bit of thought, I ended up with my first choice: herringbone. I’m making good progress, and so far I’m loving the look. Since I’m doing this project on my own, I’m going pretty slow. I hope the foyer will be completely finished in a week or two.

In the meantime, let’s have a look at how marble herringbone looks in these gorgeous bathrooms.

Uptown: A Look at My Bathroom

I put as little money as possible into my big bathroom makeover as I’m hoping to just tear it out one day and start fresh. The shower is too small, the jacuzzi tub is huge, and there’s so much unused floor space. Plus, there are two tile designs that make my brain hurt. The big bathroom, believe it or not, has come a long way. I can barely remember the¬†silvery grey wallpaper, the excessive amount of¬†towel bars, the rusty grey drop-in sink, or the grey smokey mirror. Barely.¬†

The new sink, vanity, mirror, lighting have refreshed the space as has the wall paint, the cabinet paint job, the inkblot wall,¬†and a good ol’ fashion scrubbing.

The Friday Five: Things I Learned This Week

It has been one helluva week.¬†I worked a lot, tackled several chores, met up with friends, and battled the cold weather (it’s always a battle!).It’s been a week of long days and nights, that’s for darn sure! Today I’m sharing five things I learned this week:

1. The Tiny House Movement. I had only vaguely heard about this trend, but I had a lengthy conversation with a colleague about them, and then that obviously led to several Google searches. Check out this tiny house in North Vancouver.

Could you live in a tiny house?

2. In my MBA world, I learned about linear regression. Scatter plots are not my favourite, but I do like polka dots. Ha ha. As if I would ever say that in class!

3. I got on a greek-yogurt-for-breakfast kick this week, and it totally worked for me. Big change from my usual toast and jam combo.

4. I realized (again) that my Black and Decker Matrix with air inflator attachment is pretty darn convenient. I won this set a while ago via Twitter, and it has definitely come in handy over the last few months.

5. I’ve been pinning bathroom photos like crazy. I would love to renovate¬†my small laundry/bathroom this spring,¬†and I’m gathering loads of inspiration photos. I love that this small bathroom even has room for art and an air plant:

Did you learn¬†anything new this week? I’d love to know!

Photography: Black & White Continued

After I featured these black and white photographs, my friend Kathlyn sent me over these photos of one of the bathrooms in her new home.

ferris-wheel-photography-Paris-2 ferris-wheel-photography-Paris-1Gorgeous, right? The wallpaper is¬†so dramatic, and I love the black-framed mirror. What’s¬†even more special about¬†this space (for me, anyway) is that the¬†black and white photos of the ferris wheel are mine. I took them years ago in Paris and Kathlyn blew them up and framed them.¬†I had¬†completely forgotten about the photographs, so to see them now in a new space is awesome.

Design: Bathrooms in White and Gold

We all know that I love a clean white bathroom, right? Well, I’m shaking things up here on the ol’ blog by adding some gold into the white bathroom mix. Woah. Crazy. But have a look at these bathrooms…aren’t they good looking?
