Fashion: Anthropologie in Black and White

I scan the Anthropologie site much too often. I enjoy the styling of the home items mostly, but I do get caught in the clothes, too. Honestly, I rarely buy anything from Anthropologie because the clothing styles are generally too boho for my day-to-day wear, but I still get sucked into the site, and lately, I spotted so many pretty black and white pieces that I think would fit seamlessly into my wardrobe (prices in USD).

The Friday Five: Velvet for Home and Wardrobe

Velvet has been everywhere in the fashion world this fall, but I think we’ll also be seeing it invade some of our home designs on both a small and large scale. While some may opt for rich jewel tones when it comes to velvet, I would encourage you to also think about how creamy velvet can warm up and add luxury to your home and wardrobe.

Two for Tuesday: Scallops

Hello again dear readers! Welcome back! I hope you didn’t mind the break. I meant to come back to the blog yesterday and share news about Copenhagen, but I was having issues with my photos, so my posts remain in draft form at the moment. They’re not quite ready to be published. Thanks in advance for your patience and I battle jet-lag and get my life reorganized after by 2+ week holiday. (Tough life, I know.)

For today, since it’s Tuesday, I’ll share two they’re-so-much-alike items. And since it’s summer (my favourite season), and the beach is nearly always on my mind, I thought I’d bring some scallops to the web pages of White Cabana.

The Friday Five: White Hot at Anthropologie

The Anthropologie catalogue arrived last week, and it got me drooling! The store is so full of goodness. While not everything suits my style, I do appreciate Anthro’s overall aesthetic. And the pieces that I have picked out in the past for my home and wardrobe have definitely become some of my favourite items.

These five pieces have caught my summer-loving attention.

The Friday Five: Fish Scales Design Trend

I think we’re going to see more fish scales in our design future. Here are five cases to demonstrate my thoughts:

Marketplace: Night Stands

Now that the bed of my dreams is perfectly in place (minus the mattress, of course), I’m on the hunt for a pair of suitable nightstands. My bed is French, so I might opt for something French provincial in style (but plain-ish) to go with it…or something else.

What I’m discovering so far in my search is that (a) I’m very particular (too short, too tall, too skinny, too fat, too traditional, too modern), (b) new nightstands can be super pricey, and (c) finding a pair of vintage nightstands seems practically impossible.

That said, here are some versions that caught my eye and that might go with my bed (but not necessarily my budget…and I’d likely have to repaint them, too).

The Friday Five: Back to Beds

I have not yet pulled the trigger on a new bed. I know, I know, it’s been months since I first posted about my bed dreams! I just cannot decide. I thought I wanted a foot board because the bed looks more complete to me, but now I’m not so sure. I fear this bed decision will never be made!

Christine featured this gorgeous bed from CB2 on her blog back in July, and I really really like it. Sleek, modern, fancy, simple…it’s awesome. But a canopy? Am I a four-poster-canopy-bed type of person?

Here’s a more traditional four-poster bed that is quite textured. I don’t think this bed is for me, but I do think it’s interesting.

Then I spotted this one, and I quite like it, too. It’s completely different from the black one above. This one is low and minimal.

My bed research keeps bringing me back to the feminine French rounded bed that I posted about earlier, and here’s the latest addition to my photo collection.

And still keeping with feminine curves, this bed from West Elm looks fancy. There are so many fabric options so customization is pretty easy.

And the research continues…

Marketplace: Getting Fishy

When I was young, I had a pet fish named Hercules. He was the easiest pet. So, when I saw this fish bowl, I thought of Hercules…

And then I thought that I could dedicate a post to all things fish. So that’s what I’m doing.
