Two for Tuesday

Two for Tuesday: Lace

Who tuned into the wedding between Chiara Ferragni (fashion blogger, CEO and more!) and Fedez (Italian rapper)? It was magical. And extravagant. And extra large! Chiara’s first wedding dress (why have one when you can have two? Designed by Dior!) was made up of a lace bodysuit and a massive tulle skirt. The hours and skill that went into this dress are impressive.

It seems that lace – and lace circle shapes – may be something we’ll see quite a bit of in the months ahead. Here’s just one sample of the design in a pair of affordable tights.

Two for Tuesday: The Belt Bag

One of my friends (hi Jess!) loves a good fanny pack. I used to poke fun at this little accessory, but now (just like I did as a young kid in the 80s) completely understands the appeal. With the fanny pack, you must be strict as to what you can carry (therefore avoiding heavy handbags) and your hands remain free (for coffee, dog walking, shopping bags). What do you think? A great little accessory or one to skip?

Two for Tuesday: Stacked Up

I hope everyone had a great Canada Day long weekend! I’m already finding it hard to get back into work mode after a few days of relaxation by the pool and BBQ with friends. I don’t think I opened my computer even once all weekend long, so forgive me if posts are brief this week.

Today’s pair are all about lines and structure.

Two for Tuesday: Art Cubes

I was in Saskatoon last week for a conference, and when I had a spare moment post-conference, I opted to visit the Remai Modern. What a good decision that was! I was in awe of the building and the art, and if you follow me on Instagram (#WhiteCabanaGoestoSaskatoon), then you know that I couldn’t stop posting about it!

There was plenty of white in the spaces and in the art, but one of the most impressive exhibits was Haegue Yang’s Sol LeWitt Upside Down. Is it ever cool! Haegue Yang is a South Korean artist who lives and works in Berlin and Seoul.

If you look closely, you can see that these cubes are composed of blinds. Window blinds!

What I learned from Kayla (one of the Remai Modern guides) is that Haegue Yang’s piece was inspired by American artist Sol LeWitt‘s Incomplete Open Cubes.

Two for Tuesday: Workout Gear

Who is getting their bodies in shape for pool season? I’m definitely on the slow side of this part of my life, but I continue to attend my barre classes, and I feel much stronger than I did a few months ago. The first item today is the classic dumbbell – in white! Great for bicep curls and triceps.

This second item – the UBarre – is definitely has a lovely aesthetic, and there are loads of Ubarre exercises to do for strength training. (Thanks to Swiss Miss for the intro.)

Two for Tuesday: Praise for Polka Dots

Yes, I have polka dots on my mind again. I was at Bed Bath and Beyond over the weekend, and I noticed Kate Spade’s polka dot bath collection, and I’m wondering if I should add a few pieces to my new laundry/bathroom.

And then I saw Teggy French in this sweet polka dot top, and I thought she looked great.

And well, that’s how this two-of-a-kind post came to be!

Two for Tuesday: Simple Easter

These two Easter table settings caught my eye. I absolutely love the simplicity of each style.

Two for Tuesday: Glass Cabinet

Cabinets reminiscent of old medicine cabinets have been in the marketplace for quite some time. We often see them in bathrooms filled with towels and toiletries, but I also think they look right at home in an office.

Here are two versions (high/low).

Fabrikor glass door cabinet, $199 CAD, Ikea

pharmacy cabinet, $1646 USD (member), Restoration Hardware

Two for Tuesday: Blah Blah Blah

One of the things that I really should try to get rid of from my vocabulary is “blah, blah, blah.” I use this to extend story details and as a replacement for “etcetera.” My 4 year old niece even asked me why I say “blah, blah.” Instead, maybe I should invest in a blanket or pillow and start explaining the details of the stories I share.

Blah Blah pillow, $31.35 USD

Two for Tuesday: White Ruffles

I know I have written about ruffles before, but they just don’t go away! This sweet detail looks great on anything from bedding to clothing as you can see in the two items I’m featuring today.

white ruffle shirt, Gap

duvet cover set, Anthropologie

Two for Tuesday: Shimmer and Shine

I know sequins and sparkles are generally reserved for New Year’s Eve, but I couldn’t wait that long to post these two-of-a-kind items. Aren’t they fun? And, not to worry, I’m sure more sequins will be coming to the blog in the months ahead! Who can resist them?

Two for Tuesday: Happy Halloween!

There’s one house in Uptown Waterloo that is particularly spooky at this time of year. Even though I know exactly where it is, and I know it’s coming up when I go for a walk, it still spooks me. Every time. I hesitate when I walk by – part of me picks up the pace because I’d rather get by it quickly, but the other part of me is so darn curious that I want to see every creative detail!

The homeowners have quite the skeleton collection, and they’ve placed them in amusing – and spooky – positions. They also have a yard full of tombstones (or RIPs as my nephews used to call them), and bats are flying around the property, too. These homeowners have certainly got Halloween under control!

Imagine the total opposite of this yard…and you’ll get my house. I have my candy ready to hand out to the kiddies (or, more like, one for you, one for me!), but I don’t even have a pumpkin!

Happy Halloween!

Two for Tuesday: Sand Timers

I know many of us turn to our iPhone, iWatchs, iEverything when we’re looking for the time, but there’s definitely something charming of the old-school (or old-old-old school) way of keeping track of time.

Here are two options from CB2 that can keep you on track for a 15-minute or 1-hour activity.

Two for Tuesday: The Military Jacket

We see variations of the military jacket each year – if not each season! Today I’m featuring two versions – high and low. Can you tell which one is which?

Two For Tuesday: Headphones

Are you into mini or large headphones? For what purposes?

Apple Airpods, $219 CAD, Best Buy

Bose headphones, $269.99 CAD, Best Buy

I use the set that came with my iPhone – usually when I’m driving – and another set for my iPod when I (sometimes) use it. I have yet to try sound-proofing headphones for travel even though I know they’re a popular option.

Two for Tuesday: Backpacks

Happy back to school day/week! I do love back to school season because it feels like it’s a fresh start. Sure, this time of year can be anxious for many what with new routines and end of summer vacation, but hopefully after this week, the stress will disappear.

In honour of the season, here are two white backpacks from brands that I know the university crowd supports!

daypack, $44.99 USD, Herschel

backpack, $36 USD, Jansport

Two for Tuesday: The Caged Stool

Today’s pair oozes glam with sleek gold lines and curves.

Two for Tuesday: The White Swan

It seems that every year when I’m in Florida, swans come to mind. Last year, I had quite the round-up of swan merchandise, and today I’m bringing you two swans that I’ve come across on my recent shopping trips around Florida.

Two for Tuesday: White Coral

I love the delicateness and fanciness of coral. And since it’s beachy, and I’m spending my days and nights at the beach, it seems like a great two-of-a-kind this week.
